FGMD: Living Wholeheartedly—My Journey to Flow, Glow, Mojo

Hi everyone! I’m Stefania Alba Nova, founder of Flow Glow Mojo Dojo (FGMD). Today, I want to share a bit about my journey and why I’m so passionate about living wholeheartedly and helping others do the same. FGMD is a wellness brand built on self-discovery, resilience, and authentic living, but my path to get here wasn’t straightforward. It’s been one of growth through both inspiration and adversity, blending my background as a Humanism teacher with my personal journey through pain and transformation.

In my early 30s, life took an unexpected turn. After years as a teacher, a parent, and an active community member, I burned out—hard. I developed severe fibromyalgia and ME, and before I knew it, I was bedridden, needing 24-hour care. Losing my independence was devastating. I felt like a “waste of space,” wondering if I’d ever find my purpose or strength again.

But in my darkest moments, I faced a choice: I could either give up or find a way to move up. I decided to try focusing on what I could do instead of what I couldn’t. I started small, crocheting gifts for friends who helped me. This tiny act brought purpose and a spark of joy back into my life.

Little by little, I rebuilt my strength, using mindfulness, cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), and creative practices. Each step was a reclaiming of myself, a process that didn’t erase the pain but helped me grow through it. These experiences inspired me to create Flow Glow Mojo Dojo as a way to guide others in their own journey to live fully and authentically, no matter their circumstances.

Wholehearted Living: The Heart of FGMD

In FGMD, living wholeheartedly means showing up fully—embracing life with courage, self-compassion, and joy. This approach comes from a blend of my humanistic studies and my own journey through suffering and recovery. My teaching experiences, coupled with my own struggles, have taught me that wholehearted living isn’t about perfection or avoiding hardship. It’s about engaging with each moment, transforming pain into resilience, and creating a life that feels deeply meaningful.

Living wholeheartedly is about embracing who you are and choosing to live with openness, courage, and joy. With FGMD, I wanted to create a system that honors each person’s unique path—a way to tap into our inner strength and navigate life authentically.

The Core of Wholehearted Living: The FGMD Pillars

Wholehearted living with FGMD is anchored in a few key practices. These pillars support a life of meaning, growth, and fulfillment, helping you tap into your inner flow, ignite your glow, and unleash your mojo.

1. Authenticity: Stepping Out of “What Will They Think?”

For me, authenticity is the foundation of wholehearted living. When I let go of worrying about what others thought and focused on what felt real to me, life opened up. FGMD encourages you to drop the “shoulds” and live aligned with your truth. In embracing authenticity, we attract people and experiences that resonate with our unique selves.

2. Self-Compassion: Knowing and Honoring Yourself

Self-compassion was something I had to learn the hard way, but it’s essential for wholehearted living. FGMD emphasizes treating yourself with kindness, giving yourself the space to heal, grow, and learn without judgment. When we’re compassionate with ourselves, we’re empowered to overcome challenges with resilience and self-love.

3. Empowerment: Choosing to Grow, No Matter What

Empowerment means choosing growth, even when it’s uncomfortable. I used to feel powerless when I was unwell, but through FGMD, I learned to reclaim my ability to grow and thrive. Empowerment is about making the choice to step up, even if the road is challenging. It’s embracing the unknown and realizing you have the power to shape your path.

4. Gratitude and Joy: Cultivating a Mindset of Abundance

Practicing gratitude has changed my life. It taught me to focus on abundance rather than scarcity. In FGMD, we embrace joy as an everyday practice, recognizing that there’s beauty and richness all around us. Living with gratitude opens us up to joy and helps us see that even in difficulty, there are things to be grateful for.

5. Intuition and Faith: Trusting Your Inner Compass

One of the biggest lessons I learned was to trust myself. FGMD encourages you to listen to your intuition, to let your inner compass guide you, even when the road ahead is unclear. Wholehearted living means trusting in your journey, letting go of control, and believing that there’s purpose in each experience.

6. Creativity: Living Free of Comparison

Creativity has been an essential part of my healing journey. Through FGMD, I’ve come to see creativity as a form of self-expression and self-celebration. When we let go of comparison, we free ourselves to express who we really are, creating space for joy, connection, and fulfillment.

7. Play, Fun, and Rest: Embracing Wholesome Joy

Transformation isn’t all hard work; play and rest are equally important. In FGMD, joy and relaxation are essential to wholehearted living. Taking time to rest, laugh, and reconnect with what makes you happy fuels your growth. True transformation requires balance.

8. Mindfulness and Stillness: Grounding Yourself

Mindfulness has been a grounding force in my life. FGMD encourages moments of calm to prevent burnout and anxiety. When we’re grounded, we’re better equipped to face challenges without losing our sense of well-being. Mindfulness keeps us connected to the present, where life is happening.

9. Meaning and Purpose: Knowing You Matter

Living wholeheartedly is about knowing your actions, however small, matter. FGMD helps you connect with a sense of purpose, to live each day with intention and to recognize that you have an impact. When we understand our significance, we can let go of self-doubt and trust that we’re making a difference.

10. Laughter, Song, and Dance: Reclaiming Joy

Wholehearted living means letting go of the need to be “in control” all the time. Laughter, song, and dance remind us to reconnect with our inner child, to let go and embrace the freedom of simply being. These acts bring us back to joy, which is a vital part of living with heart.

FGMD: The Journey of Living Wholeheartedly

FGMD is more than just a wellness system; it’s a way of living that embraces change, growth, and joy as lifelong companions. My path to creating FGMD was forged by my experiences as a teacher and by my journey through chronic illness and healing. Wholehearted living is about living fully, whether that means celebrating our strengths or honoring our struggles.

Creating FGMD has been my way of turning pain into purpose. This journey has taught me that transformation isn’t about waiting for life to be easy—it’s about embracing each stage of the journey and allowing yourself to grow, love, and live deeply.
